Ukrainian politician: We cannot wait for Orbán to come to Kyiv
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was invited to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Igor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, talked about this in an interview. He said that they were looking forward to welcoming Orbán in the Ukrainian capital because they wanted to find a solution to the issues that have led to the conflict between the two countries.
Orbán is invited to Kyiv
In an interview with Radio Free Europe Ukraine, Igor Zhovkva confirmed reports that Viktor Orbán was invited to Kyiv. They invited him at last week’s European Council summit, Index reports. Zhovkva also said that Viktor Orbán was one of the first people to shake hands with Zelenskyy at the meeting. He recalled that Orbán and Zelenskyy had discussed how to achieve Ukraine’s integration into the European Union. He added that Orbán had expressed a “constructive” opinion on the issue.
Orbán and Zelenskyy to sit down and talk?
According to Igor Zhovkva, at the summit, “the Ukrainian president repeatedly invited Viktor Orbán to come to Kyiv, Ukraine. To sit down at the table and discuss everything, including what is worrying Hungary. We are ready to present our position on how to solve these problems,” the deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office said in the interview.
Ukraine is aware of the passive stance of of Hungary
He added that they were aware that Hungary still had no intention of providing military assistance to Ukraine. On top of that, he said that Orbán and Zelenskyy had spoken on the phone several times, but that they should also meet in person.
According to Index, if the Hungarian PM does indeed go to Kyiv, there is a good chance that the atrocities against Hungarians (about which we wrote here and here) in Transcarpathia will also be discussed.

Dear PM, yes, by all means go to Kiyv. And while you’re there, take a trip to Bucha and Kharkiv and see for yourself who is the agressor, and who is suffering.
Come to think of it, perhaps it not such a good idea you never know if there is a Ukrainian Gavrilo Princip lurking in Kiyv – after all, YOU have made a few enemies there.
